Regular presentations on conservation and artists’ materials for museums, groups and fund-raising events

Richard Hawkes is an experienced lecturer and training provider. He has been a visiting tutor for several years on the MA Conservation course at Camberwell College of Arts and has taught modules on the History of Artists’ Materials at UCL and Warwick University. He has presented papers at conferences and given training events and talks throughout the UK.

  • Workshops on re-constructing techniques of Old Master drawings at the Ferens Art Gallery Hull to coincide with the Leonardo drawings exhibition in 2012
  • Talks on conservation and care of collections to museum Friends’ organisations and charity events
  • In-house staff training on care, mounting and display of paper-based collections
  • Continual professional development training for conservators
